  • Two practice tests (one in the book and one online)
  • Detailed answer explanations
  • In-depth analysis of NCLEX-RN question types
  • Review of alternate question types

Strategies play an important role in passing the NCLEX-RN, which is a critical thinking test requiring students to go beyond simply recognizing facts. In this guide, test-takers will have access to the most effective methods available to guarantee a passing score.

5 out of 5 stars helps prepare you for NCLEX   July 28, 2010
M. E. Geertsema (West Virginia, USA)
I highly recommend this book to anyone taking the NCLEX-RN. It lays out the strategies on how to take the test and it also has plenty of practice questions in the book and on the CD-ROM, with rationales in the back of the book. It even gives you advice and tells you about what to expect on testing day and information on the licensure process. Reading through the book and using the practice questions really reduced my anxiety about taking the NCLEX and during the exam when I wasn't sure of the answer, I just carefully went through the strategies I learned from the book and it must have worked because I passed on the first try earlier this month with only 75 questions. It didnt mention anything about the recent changes to the NCLEX_RN exam, but later editions might. But this edition's still worth it for how it teaches you how to pick apart the questions and helping with critical thinking skills. I also used the saunders comprehensive review book and ATI review products.

5 out of 5 stars Lots of great information   July 23, 2010
M. Yeazle (Indiana)
I have one more year of school before I take the NCLEX. This book is wonderful. I plan on using the test taking strategies on my nursing tests while in school. I honestly have already started to stress over the idea of taking the boards and the information has answered a lot of my questions. I took the practice NCLEX test on the included cd and scored a 60. While not passing by any means, I was not surprised. I still have much to learn. I was also able to answer many questions about subjects that I have not been taught yet by using some of the strategies. This is definately a book I will read again and again when I begin "officially" studying for the boards.

5 out of 5 stars Kaplan NCLEX-RN 2010-2011: Strategies, Practice and Review   July 20, 2010
RPRN
I loved using this book to review for my NCLEX exam. There are some helpful stratagies to use to help you relax and how to study. There are also tips and steps to help you answer different kinds of questions and how to narrow down the answers if you didnt know the answer. I would deffinately recommend this book to everyone who is going to take the NCLEX-RN.

5 out of 5 stars Completely Satisfied!!! The only thing that would make it better is if I ace my NCLEX!   July 19, 2010
lilnmattsmom
I followed every suggestion, started from page 1 and I am convinced this was the perfect choice in NCLEX review books!! I love the way it is written, I can relate to every scenario and tip it offers. I have taken each sample question and followed their advice. Now that I am almost finished with the book, I am able to answer most questions correctly. I am confident that by the time I sit for my NCLEX next summer, if I continue to quiz myself according to Kaplan, I will do very well! I have recommended this book to my classmates and I look forward to succeeding with them because of it!

5 out of 5 stars This is a must have   July 12, 2010
Erica K. RN
This book is a must have for new grads preparing to take NCLEX. The stategies are what make the book worth every penny. If you already have a strong base of nursing knowledge, reading this book front to back and applying the strategies when answering any review questions will equal passing the NCLEX on the first try.
